9 June 2026: Round Table Event in partnership with Automechanika Birmingham, sponsored by Castrol
Fleet Guy recently hosted an exclusive high‑level event, bringing together fleet companies from across the UK to explore the future of fleet service, maintenance and repair.
Delivered in partnership with Automechanika Birmingham, the event reflected the growing industry focus on strengthening collaboration between fleet operators and the independent aftermarket.
We were delighted that seventeen of the top fleet companies from across the UK joined us. Between them, they look after 3.5 million vehicles, so their input is critical to evolving the partnerships between independent garages and fleet companies.
We also shared details of the upcoming Fleet Guy Audit Hub - a new compliance platform designed to give garages a single place to organise their compliance paperwork, and to give fleet companies confidence when selecting independent workshops for SMR work.
We also discussed the standards that should form part of the Fleet Guy Certified Scheme, how we can continue to raise standards across the independent garage sector, and the challenges and frustrations fleet companies face that independent garages are uniquely positioned to solve.

1 June 2026: Fleet Guy gains IMI accreditation on first national fleet‑work accreditation for independent garages
Fleet Guy has announced a major industry first: the development of the UK’s first IMI accreditation for fleet service, maintenance and repair delivered by independent garages. The new standard, Fleet Guy Certified, is now being advanced with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) to raise consistency, capability and confidence across the fast‑growing fleet SMR sector.
Nearly 100 garages already engaged in the Fleet Guy community will now benefit from working towards the introduction of a recognised national standard. This marks a significant step toward harmonising expectations and improving safety, consistency and trust across the sector.
To become Fleet Guy Certified, a garage must complete a 40-question assessment, based on the Fleet Guy 12-month training programme, and complete a live audit.
